I started this site to experiment with Linux and Joomla CMS(Content Management System). While I am fairly new to Linux, having made a complete divorce from M$ Windows in 2006 I've spent the past year learning as much as I can and experimenting with various things.
I have to say that even though you have often have to tweak Linux installs and there is a rather severe learning curve for a newbie to Linux it is Worth it! Really I just became so disgusted with MS Windows on my systems. It always seemed they where not behaving well.. eg.. doing things behind my back, uploading to the mother-ship
so to speak. The DRM(Digital Rights Management) in it Was to say the
least intrusive. Every once in awhile after changing my machine
configuration enough times I would have to call MS and ask them if I
could reinstall software that I had already purchased, It was like
having big brother watching me all the time. I had tried some Linux distributions in the past and had not had much luck, this was back in 2000. So flash forward to 2006 I started seeing more buzz about this "Ubuntu" so I gave it a go. Wow was I shocked at how far Linux had come.
So one of the reasons for this site is my personal advocation of Linux, along with whatever I can contribute to the Linux Community at large, plus I always wind up learning a bunch when I start up new personal projects like this. I just wanted to have a online repository of my little bits of information to share online.
