ProjectM allows Amarok to Display Some
Trippy Visualizations in Linux
Two really great things, Amarok(great music manager for Linux) and Milkdrop Visualizations in Kubuntu 7.10
You need to compile it from source and pull the milkdrop presets off the web. There are over 5,500 presets available for ProjectM. So you see you don't need Winamp for Windows and the Linux version takes up far less resources!
Here's a video of it in action....
For more information See ProjectM's homepage at http://projectm.sourceforge.net/
It'll be packaged with the next version of Ubuntu (Hardy) but in the meantime you can install libprojectm1, libvisual-projectm and libprojectm1-data from Debian's lenny repository. Then restart Amarok, and in the visualisations menu choose projectM.
It takes a few seconds to start cycling through the visualisations;
right-click on the window or press F11 to switch to full-screen mode;
maximise the window before full-screening for full effect; presets are
in /usr/share/projectM, configuration options are in ~/.projectM.
