vichesnutt.jpegRemember the guy in the wheelchair in Slingblade? That guy is Vic Chesnutt, singer, songwriter, recovering alcoholic, among many things. From the movie Slingblade you would never know  how talented he is musically and poetically. I found one of his performances online at SouthernShelter.com from the 40 Watt in Athens, Georgia. They have a bunch of other artists' live performances online as well. You might check them out.

One of Vic's most notable songs is "Supernatural."  Here's that song performed Live at the 40 Watt.

Contrast Vic's Version with Live's, two very different versions, both beautiful. Live gives him a great deal of credit, deservedly so, for his work on creating the song!

And Yes the Wheelchair is Alcohol related for Vic, he's been in it since he was 18 years old.

"In our family, there was no clear line between religion and fly fishing. We lived at the junction of great trout rivers in western Montana, and our father was a Presbyterian minister and a fly fisherman who tied his own flies and taught others. He told us about Christ's disciples being fishermen, and we were to assume, as my brother and I did, that all first-class fishermen on the Sea of Galilee were fly fishermen and that John, the favorite, was a dry-fly fisherman."
